To their credit, all three bands gained Silver Awards and had many positive comments from the adjudicators, as well as suggestions for improvements.
St. David's Junior Band was conducted by second year music student, Emily Brown. Well done, Emily!
St. David's Brass Spring Concert 2014
Apr 30, 2014Our senior band, St. David's Brass, will be performing a Spring Concert.
Funds raised will go towards the cost of the trip to Cheltenham in September, where the Band will be competing in the Finals of the National Championships.
Come along and 'Listen to the Band'.
Joint Youth Bands Concert
Apr 30, 2014The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) will be presenting the 2014 European Brass Band Championships series in Scotland.
SBBA is also using this opportunity to stage a nationwide programme of events with the intention of involving every brass band in Scotland, operating this exciting showcase as the European Festival of Brass 2014.
The concert is a joint contribution to the Festival from the four bands.
Scottish result - Cheltenham again
Apr 04, 2014Competing in the Second section of the Scottish Brass Band Championships in Perth recently, the Band were delighted to be placed 2nd. This means the band now go on to represent Scotland at the National Finals in Cheltenham and will also be promoted to the First section for next year.
The adjudicators were impressed with the way our conductor, John A Dickson, had interpreted the complex problems posed by the test piece, 'Chaucer's Tales', composed by Michael Ball, and had challenged the Band to cope with them.
The Band's solo cornet player, Stuart Dickson, was also awarded the medal for Best Instrumentalist. A great day all round!
It is just three years since the Band last went to Cheltenham after winning the Scottish Third Section and players are looking forward to competing in the Scottish First Section next year.
