Competing in the Second section of the Scottish Brass Band Championships in Perth recently, the Band were delighted to be placed 2nd. This means the band now go on to represent Scotland at the National Finals in Cheltenham and will also be promoted to the First section for next year.

The adjudicators were impressed with the way our conductor, John A Dickson, had interpreted the complex problems posed by the test piece, 'Chaucer's Tales', composed by Michael Ball, and had challenged the Band to cope with them.

The Band's solo cornet player, Stuart Dickson, was also awarded the medal for Best Instrumentalist. A great day all round!

It is just three years since the Band last went to Cheltenham after winning the Scottish Third Section and players are looking forward to competing in the Scottish First Section next year.
